Why pay conversion helps
A job can look different when hourly pay is converted to monthly or annual income. The calculator helps compare offers with different hours, schedules, and pay periods.
Inputs to check
Confirm expected hours per week, paid weeks per year, overtime rules, unpaid time off, bonuses, commissions, and benefits before deciding which offer is stronger.
Gross vs. take-home pay
The calculator estimates gross pay before taxes and deductions unless otherwise noted. Real take-home pay depends on location, filing status, insurance, retirement contributions, and payroll deductions.
Contractor caution
Contract rates often need to cover self-employment tax, insurance, unpaid admin time, equipment, and gaps between projects.
How to use it
- Enter the known pay amount and schedule.
- Adjust weekly hours and paid weeks if they differ from a standard full-time year.
- Use the converted amounts as a gross-pay comparison, not a final budget.
How the calculation works
Gross annual pay equals hourly rate × hours per week × paid weeks. Monthly pay divides the annual figure by 12. The after-deduction result applies one simple percentage and is not a payroll or income-tax calculation.
Worked example
At $25 per hour, 40 hours per week, and 52 paid weeks, gross annual pay is $52,000. A worker with unpaid weeks should reduce the weeks input before comparing the result with a salaried offer.
Frequently asked questions
Does this include overtime?
No. Calculate overtime separately because applicable rates and eligibility rules vary.
Is the after-tax number exact?
No. It is a budgeting estimate; filing status, location, benefits, and withholding rules affect take-home pay.
